Steve Freitas to share expertise on additive manufacturing

Steve Freitas, an esteemed professional in advanced manufacturing, has been confirmed as a panelist at the upcoming 2023 ASTM International Conference on Advanced Manufacturing (ASTM ICAM 2023). The event, sponsored by the ASTM International Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence, will be held in Washington D.C., and provide a platform for industry professionals to explore standardization, qualification, and certification in the field of advanced and additive manufacturing.

ASTM ICAM 2023, now in its eighth annual iteration, focuses on the research-to-application transition in advanced manufacturing. The conference is set to attract experts from around the world, making it a truly international gathering dedicated to advancements in the industry.

ICAM is organized by a committee of over 100 scientific members, including professionals from industry, academia, government, regulatory agencies, and national laboratories. The conference will encompass 26 symposia covering various topics and key areas in additive and advanced manufacturing.

Freitas, the R&D Director for IMI CCI, brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the panel discussion. With over 25 years of expertise in the design, selection, and application of high-pressure and high-temperature valves in fossil fuel power plants and oil & gas facilities, he has played a crucial role in driving innovation and advancements in the field. Freitas also possesses extensive experience in the development and application of additive manufactured flow controls.

The panel discussion at ASTM ICAM 2023 holds great significance as it delves into the role of additive manufacturing within the oil and gas supply chain model. With the oil and gas industry renowned for its rigorous standards and complex supply chain operations, understanding the integration of additive manufacturing is vital for identifying opportunities, challenges, and areas of growth. The inclusion of industry experts like Freitas ensures thought-provoking discussions and valuable insights that can shape the future of advanced manufacturing in the oil and gas sector.

The panel, titled “How does AM fit in the Oil & Gas Supply Chain model? Or it doesn’t?” will be moderated by Carlo De Bernardi from ConocoPhillips. The discussion is scheduled for November 2 at 10.30 AM ET in Washington D.C. at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C.
