CSP plants comprise concave mirrors which follow the sun and focus its rays on a tower, typically containing molten salt. The molten salt is superheated, passes through a heat exchanger, creating steam which turns a turbine generating electricity.

In the biomass sector, plants powered by fuels such as wood chip, straw and waste, run for extended periods without breaks. This reduces opportunities for maintenance, so the reliability of plant components is key.
