Engineer your career with us

IMI Critical Engineering designs, manufactures and installs customised solutions for new plant builds in vital energy and process industries. It’s an ideal place to be if you’re looking for complex challenges. The valves you produce here will control the flow of steam, gas and liquids in harsh environments, so have to withstand temperature and pressure extremes as well as intensely abrasive or corrosive cyclical operations.

You’ll take on two twelve-month placements, which will provide you with a solid foundation in both engineering and our business, while helping to fuel your personal and professional growth. Areas you’ll cover will include Design Engineering, Inside Sales and Project Management. You’ll also join one of our Growth Accelerator teams, developing solutions for the future.

Career Paths, Progress and Development

Roy Twite joined us as a graduate in 1988. Today he’s our CEO! If you’re an ambitious and hard-working self-starter then you too can progress into a leadership role, as many other IMI graduates besides Roy have done before you. Career paths are flexible, offering lots of opportunities for you learn about yourself and your strengths. The aim is for you to be able to advance from your graduate programme in the direction that’s right for you.

You’ll enjoy high-quality training throughout the programme. It kicks off with a two-week induction for all graduates. You will also attend a one-week workshop in Europe after you complete your first year. In the meantime, you will be gaining critical skills and experience on the job, as you rotate through a series of challenging and rewarding roles. You’ll also receive first-class support from your mentor, the graduate team and your local manager.
